Moishe's Goes Green
This week I'd like to discuss Moishe's Moving & Storage's decision to go green. On Earth Day, 2008, Moishe's put into action an intensive program of changes and adjustments that make our company the first Green mover on the East Coast. Over the course of the past year, Moishe's has invested large amounts of time and energy in designing a comprehensive overhaul of the way the company functions. From transitioning to a new, paperless billing system to the bio fuel the Moishe's trucks will soon run on, we've redesigned our operations to reduce waste and pollution and become one of the most environmentally conscious companies in New York. The decision to go green was natural for us. From the very beginning, Moishe's has taken great pride in being a socially responsible company. As a leader of the moving industry and the NY business community as a whole, we felt it was necessary to reduce our carbon footprint and make an authoritative move towards more enviro-friendly day-to-day operations. Below, I've laid out a list of the more impressive changes we're making at Moishe's. As we make our Green transition we encourage you to move forward with us. This Friday we are adding several new "going green" resources to our website, http://www.moishes.com/. I encourage you to read through them and see what you can do to make your home and your next move a little greener.
Moishe’s move to green includes several company-wide changes. The transition includes:
- A Community Box Exchange Program allowing customers to exchange re-usable boxes via a website operated by Moishe’s
- A 100 % paperless billing system
- Rental of light-weight and re-usable biodegradable boxes
- Replacing packing peanuts with biodegradable pellets made from recycled diapers
- Financial incentives for employees to live more environmentally responsible
- Transitioning to trucks powered by bio-fuel instead of gasoline
