Summer Moving Season

The weather in New York has been glorious this week, and the sunny skies and 75 degree weather means that the heat and humidity of Summer in the city are soon to follow. Summer is a busy time for Moishe's. Nearly 42 million Americans move to a new home each year, and approximately half of them do so during the Summer months. In an effort to help customers prevent overspending or over stressing, I've put together a short list of guidelines to consider on your moving day.

1. Ask for a written statement. Be certain to provide accurate information about how many boxes/items need to be moved, as well as any additional difficulties that may take place on moving day (ie, your new apartment is on the sixth floor in a walk-up or your new road is extremely narrow). Giving a detailed account of the services you require ensures that you receive an accurate statement.

2. On moving day, stay available. Provide the moving company with your mobile number. This allows the driver and delivery team to get in touch with you immediately if they need directions or run into another form of trouble.

3. Finally, keep your composure. Take it from me, no moving day has ever gone 100% according to plan. Keeping an open mind and a cool head when you hit a few snags in your plan will help you to make better decisions and avoid damaged, lost or forgotten items.
