Moishe's Goes Green

This week I'd like to discuss Moishe's Moving & Storage's decision to go green. On Earth Day, 2008, Moishe's put into action an intensive program of changes and adjustments that make our company the first Green mover on the East Coast. Over the course of the past year, Moishe's has invested large amounts of time and energy in designing a comprehensive overhaul of the way the company functions. From transitioning to a new, paperless billing system to the bio fuel the Moishe's trucks will soon run on, we've redesigned our operations to reduce waste and pollution and become one of the most environmentally conscious companies in New York.

The decision to go green was natural for us. From the very beginning, Moishe's has taken great pride in being a socially responsible company. As a leader of the moving industry and the NY business community as a whole, we felt it was necessary to reduce our carbon footprint and make an authoritative move towards more enviro-friendly day-to-day operations. Below, I've laid out a list of the more impressive changes we're making at Moishe's. As we make our Green transition we encourage you to move forward with us. This Friday we are adding several new "going green" resources to our website, http://www.moishes.com/. I encourage you to read through them and see what you can do to make your home and your next move a little greener.

Moishe’s move to green includes several company-wide changes. The transition includes:

- A Community Box Exchange Program allowing customers to exchange re-usable boxes via a website operated by Moishe’s

- A 100 % paperless billing system

- Rental of light-weight and re-usable biodegradable boxes

- Replacing packing peanuts with biodegradable pellets made from recycled diapers

- Financial incentives for employees to live more environmentally responsible

- Transitioning to trucks powered by bio-fuel instead of gasoline

The Moving Expert

Moving Expert Blog Intro

My name is Eugene LeMay. I’m the President CEO of Moishe’s Moving and Storage Services. Moishe’s is one of the most trusted names in New York moving and storage, and we’ve helped thousands of people move since we opened 25 years ago.

As the American moving and storage business sector has grown, Moishe’s has grown with it. During the past 10 years our industry has undergone monumental transformations. Throughout this period of intense change Moishe’s has labored to push past out-dated procedures standard within the moving industry. Instead, we’ve consistently focused our energy and resources into finding newer and better solutions. From acclimating to a digitally driven business market to pushing the envelope as the first all-green mover on the East Coast, Moishe’s is a company that has become synonymous with phrases like “cutting edge” and “ground-breaking.”

At Moishe’s we believe that an educated customer is a good customer. Staying true to that philosophy, I’ve created this blog as a forum to aide our customers, as well as consumers across the United States, in need of professional moving advice.

I may be the CEO of one of the largest moving companies in New York, but I have a firm belief that providing customers with superior service requires keeping a finger strongly on the pulse of the public. Beginning today I will use this site to personally post bi-weekly advice about Moving and Storage services. Hopefully, my advice will help you to make more informed and responsible decisions the next time you hire a moving company or rent a storage space.

This blog serves as a place to find knowledgeable and experienced advice, but I also hope to see it become a place for questions and discussions. The latest idea we’d like to render out-dated at Moishe’s is that finding answers to questions should be a hassle. If you’re looking for the solution to a moving and storage-related question don’t hesitate to ask. I’m always taking questions via email at askgene@moishes.com. Thank you for visiting The Storage Expert, and I look forward to answering all of your questions soon.
